Whether you're here for yourself, or browsing as a parent on behalf of your child, we're glad that you want to know more about keeping yourself safe while playing.

Firstly, it is important to know that you're playing Adopt Me! on the Roblox platform and so not only should you be checking your Adopt Me! settings, but also your Roblox settings. In this article, you'll be introduced to the safety features available within Adopt! Me. However, we also recommend checking out this Roblox article regarding Roblox safety features.

Adopt Me! Safety Features

Settings

Within Adopt Me! over in the right-hand side, there is a settings cog icon. By clicking that, this will bring you to the in-game settings menu, where you can have a click through and adjust the settings to your preferences. In terms of settings that affect your safety, click the drop down menu in the top right of the tab and select "Interactions".

This provides a list of settings that you can control regarding how other players can interact with you. You can pick and choose these as you wish by clicking on them and selecting the option that best suits you for how you want to play. If you want to keep your interactions with other players to an absolute minimum, we suggest setting everything to the "No One" option.

House Locking

When you join the game, you'll be loaded into your house. If you've joined a public server, but want some personal space before you head out into the town, you can lock your house to stop people from entering. To lock your house, click the "Lock" button at the top of your screen.

Please note, you will need to keep locking your house each time you join a server as this doesn't stay. Locking your house does not prevent friends who teleport to you from getting in.

Trade Icons

We want you to enjoy all the fun features of Adopt Me!, but remaining safe while doing so. In which case, you may choose to start trading with other players. As such, it is important to know who you are trading with.

If you're new to trading, we recommend sticking to trading with friends you know and are trustworthy until you become more comfortable with trading.

There may be some users with bad intentions who will impersonate your friend's username, so always be on the lookout. You will know you're trading with a verified friend by the smiley face next to their name.

Trading Tip: To be certain that you are trading with your friend, make sure you communicate with your friend on another platform while trading so that they can confirm you are trading with them.

Please also be aware that some users may pretend to be a staff member to try to get items from you. The Uplift team do not typically trade with users, however, staff members can be recognised by their purple name tag and by the Uplift butterfly icon in the trade menu.

Trade Viewing

If you're new to trading, and you're trading with someone unfamiliar, while they may not have any bad intentions, it may be safer for you to ask a friend or a parent to watch along as you trade. This can be done by clicking on the avatar of whoever is trading and selecting "Spectate Trade". By having someone watch over your trade, you can be more confident that you're trading safely.

Player Reporting

If you ever spot anyone who is misbehaving, makes you feel uncomfortable, attempting to scam users etc. you can report them to our team. We have two different methods of reporting users. The first option is to report them to our Support team through making a ticket, as shown here.

If someone has scammed or hacked you, you can also report users through the trading license by reporting the trade. Click on your trading license, head to the fraudulent trade. There will be a report button next to the trade, and clicking on it will initiate the report. Provide a detailed description of what happened and why you're making the report, and press the report button again to send it off.

Our Support team can only act within the scope of Adopt Me, so if you would like your report to have more of an impact, we also recommend reporting the user to Roblox themselves. Roblox have this handy guide showing you how to report a player.

Trading Blocklist

If you have trading turned on for everyone, but there is just someone that is continuously bothering you with trade requests, you have the option to add them to a temporary trading blocklist. Upon them sending a second trade request, you will see the option to block the user. This will stop them from sending trade requests for the remainder of that session. Check out our article on trade blocklisting for more information.

Muting

Sometimes you may encounter a player whose words start to bother you, they might be spamming or trying to "flex" on you. Either way, everyone deserves the right to silence and privacy, so we've introduced the mute button. Once a player is muted, they can continue to talk, you just cannot see what they're saying. They will not know you have muted them.

Simply click on their avatar and select the third mute option.

Once pressed, you'll receive a pop-up to confirm that you'd like to mute this user.

By pressing "Yes", the user will be muted for the duration of the session. Don't worry, they won't be muted permanently!

If you've decided that you'd like to hear what this user has to say once more, there is an option to unmute. Hover over their avatar until you see the unmute button pop-up.

Once clicked, they'll be automatically unmuted. There is no confirmation screen for this, so be careful! You can always mute them again after.
